Renay Houston Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected community leader, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 22, 1950, in  Manatee County, Florida, he was the cherished son of the late Annie May and Robert Houston. Renay lived a life defined by love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and country.

A proud graduate of Lincoln Memorial High School, class of 1968, Renay served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military career was marked by courage and sacrifice, earning him numerous awards and medals that recognized his commitment and bravery. He also had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, which brought him great joy.

Renay enjoyed a fulfilling life with his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Houston, and together they raised a beautiful family.  As a devoted member and deacon of New Life General Baptist Church, Renay was known for his strong faith, generosity, and steadfast commitment to his   community. His wisdom and integrity impacted many lives, leaving a remarkable legacy of love and service

Renay was preceded in death by his brothers George Houston, and Joe Nathan Houston (Dorothy), along with his beloved sisters: Veora (Amos) Thomas, Lora (Rueben) Goff, and Vivian Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife and children: Gwendolyn;  Teaira (Charlie) Williams, Lomunt     Houston, Tifany Houston, Renay Houston Jr. (Leah), and Tacoria (Bryan) Graham. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Faith (Legion) and Jeremiah (children of Teaira and Charlie), Lamont (child of Lomunt), Jaquise, Jharrid (Ryan), and Jacori (children of Tifany), Wesley, Royce, and Parker (children of Renay Jr. and Leah), Chad (son of Tacoria), and great-granddaughter Ryleigh (daughter of Jaquise).    He is survived by his brothers:  Robert (Angela) Houston, Kirkward (Jacqueline) Houston, and Marlon Houston, as well as his dear sister       Cleomie Shelley, brother-in-law, Rueben Goff (Lora), and sister-in-law Pearlese (George)     Houston.  Renay was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, and his deep love for family was clear in every moment spent together.
