Lola was an exemplary mother figure and human being. She embodied the best qualities of a human being: unconditional love, strength, faith and an unending generosity towards all who knew her.

Lola touched many lives as a chef for Pete Reynard's Restaurant, an employee for Tropicana Industrial Glass Plant and her most rewarding task as a Mother of Pentecostal of Faith Church.

She was an amazing cook.  Known around the globe for her delicious sweet potato pie.

She was born July 13, 1938 in Greensboro, Alabama to the late Ben Smith and Jessie Mae Slay (Wilson Glover Sr.)

She is preceded in death by: her precious daughter, Annie Hinton-Martin; 10 sisters: Marie Green, Ann Johnson, Stella Smith, Rose Smith, Nancy Glover, Patty Glover, Gwendolyn Glover, Kat Pratcher, Matalda Long, and Leola Long;  9 brothers: Tommie Smith, Willie Smith, Freddia Smith, Kelly Smith, Joe Glover, Wilson Glover, Jr., French Glover, John Glover, and Jerohn Glover.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband, Eugene Sloan; three children:

Tommie Hinton, Sr. (Sheona) of  San Antonio, Texas; Cassandra Hinton-King of Bradenton, Florida, and Deedra Hinton (Charles) of Hinesville, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Michael Wilson of North Port, Fl, Karen Allen of San Antonio, Tx, Polly (Kelvin) Stuckey of Palmetto, Fl, Tommie  Hinton, Jr. of San Antonio, Tx, Na'Dee Wulah of Bradenton, Fl, Jessica Hinton of San Antonio, Tx, Matthew King of Bradenton, Fl, and Donte Braxton of  Grand Prairie, Tx; eleven great grandchildren:  Joshua Waiters, Sr., Yarimar Wilson, Jesica Wilson, Kelvion Stuckey, Christian Wulah, Cheyanne Williams, Dmari  Williams, Vincent Williams, Noah Williams, Matthew King, Jr., and Sania King;  ten great, great grandchildren: Dannesia Waiters, Dannerius Waiters Jr., Tymea Wilson, Joshua Waiters, Jr.,           Jeremiah Waiters, and Charles Prewitt Jr., Jaheem Waiters, Ivyanni Prewitt, Yahmil Prewitt, and Aazad Roberts;  eight brothers: Ben(Gail) Smith, Jr. of Tampa, Fl, John Smith, Joe Smith, Earl Smith, Sam (Mary Lou) Smith, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary (Angela) Glover, Jimmy Glover of Birmingham, Ala.,  and Jessie Long of Greensboro, Ala.; five sisters:  Asaleana Smith Bradenton, Fl, Ammie (William) Smith-Jones, Gussie Williams, Birmingham, Ala., Betty Smith of Cinncinati Ohio, and  Odessa Glover of North Carolina; god-daughter, Latesha Peterson; special friends: Jimmy Porter, Sr., and Cal King; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
